I’m Amy Buckley, a soprano and private voice teacher in Westbrook, Connecticut. I’ve kept a private studio in New York and Connecticut since 2000, teaching healthy vocal technique, musicianship and lyric diction to all levels and ages, across many kinds of music. What I care about most is helping students find and cultivate their authentic voice in a safe and creative environment.
I hold a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from The Juilliard School and a B.A. in Music from the University of Connecticut, with a year at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. My teacher and mentor is W. Stephen Smith, author of The Naked Voice; I’m a featured singer on the recording that accompanies the book, and in 2016 I was Teacher in Residence at his Naked Voice Institute at Northwestern’s Bienen School of Music.
I still sing. I won the Metropolitan Opera National Council regional audition, made my Carnegie Hall debut in 2010 in a sold-out Weill Recital Hall, was a Resident Artist at the Aspen Music Festival and the Wintergreen Performing Arts Festival, and in 2023 was the soprano soloist on the world-premiere recording of All Is Mere Breath with the Empire City Men’s Chorus, on Navona Records. On the shoreline you’ll find me at the Ivoryton Playhouse, where I debuted in 2015, and with Brief Cameo Productions.
Since 2017 I’ve been Director of Music at the Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society in Madison, and since 2015 Music Director of the middle-school theater program at Walsh Intermediate School in Branford, where I prepare more than sixty students a year for a fully staged musical. I’m a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and was Vice President of its Connecticut Chapter in 2021–22.

An integrated session of beginner piano and voice, to develop keyboard and musicianship skills while at the same time learning a healthy singing technique.

Roles include Marian in The Music Man, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Despina in Così fan tutte, La Fée in Cendrillon, Mary Sunshine in Chicago, Mrs. Banks in Mary Poppins and Sophie in Werther; Messiah soloist with the Danbury Symphony; cabaret at Don’t Tell Mama.
